On behalf of the Bloomfield Police Department, Chief Chase Johnson is proud to welcome you to our community and introduce you to the men and women who serve the City of Bloomfield.

The Bloomfield Police Department is committed to protecting and serving our residents, businesses, and visitors with professionalism, integrity, and respect. Our mission is to preserve peace, enforce the laws and ordinances of the City, and provide a safe environment for everyone who lives, works, and visits Bloomfield.

As a small community, we understand the importance of building strong relationships with the people we serve. Effective law enforcement goes beyond simply responding to calls—it means being visible, approachable, and actively involved in our community. Our officers work every day to identify concerns, solve problems, and improve the quality of life for everyone in Bloomfield.

The workload of a small-town police department is often greater than it may appear. Bloomfield Police officers patrol approximately 4,000 miles each month while responding to an average of 12 calls for service every day. These calls range from routine requests for assistance and traffic-related matters to emergencies and incidents requiring immediate police intervention.

In addition to responding to calls for service, our officers conduct proactive patrols throughout the community, enforce traffic laws, investigate crimes, assist residents, conduct follow-up investigations, and work to prevent problems before they occur. Our goal is to maintain a consistent presence throughout Bloomfield and ensure our residents know that their police department is there when they need us.

Our officers are ILEA certified and are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism while continuing their training and developing the skills necessary to meet the challenges of modern law enforcement. We believe that effective policing is built on trust, communication, accountability, and a strong partnership between law enforcement and the community.

Chief Johnson and the entire Bloomfield Police Department believe that public safety is a shared responsibility. We encourage our community members to communicate with us, ask questions, report concerns, and get to know the officers who serve them.
