The City of Bloomfield runs on a fiscal year that begins July 1st and ends on June 30 of each year. The fiscal year is named for the year in which it ends. For example, the fiscal year that runs from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021 is referred to as fiscal year 2021. It is also commonly referred to as FY21.
The city typically begins the formal budgeting process during the first meeting of each new year. Through a series of workshops and regular council meetings the proposed budget is formed during January and February.
The budget must be presented at a public hearing, formally adopted by the council and sent to Davis County on, or before, March 15 of each year.
